Campaign! Make an Impact – House of Pioneers and the Coming of the Railways

    Tuesday 3 January 2012 to Friday 20 July 2012

    KS2, KS3 - History, Local studies, Literacy

The industrial revolution was a period of dynamic change particularly as pioneers and landowners tried to meet the new demands for transport links.  Did future progress lie with the development of canals or the building of new railways?  The battle between the pioneers who wanted to lay the railways between Darlington and Stockton and the landowners, who wanted canals, provides a local case study to help students explore the different ways to win an argument.

There is a charge for this workshop please contact the Stephenson Railway Museum Learning Team on (0191) 200 7146 for more information and to make a booking.
