Work and Home in Wallsend - A Sensory Experiences of a Century Ago
Facilitated workshop 1 hour followed by teacher guided activities using the Home Box and/or the Scrap Metal box for upto 1 hour.
Inspired by the new “Launch Place” zone in the museum, the children will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the shipyard and find out about the work of a riveter 100 years ago. (Rivets kindly donated by W D Close). The Red Hot Rivet Race Game will test their own skills as riveters. Additional resources are available for teachers to use: the Home Box provides objects and photos from a home in the early part of the 20th century, and the Scrap Metal box can be used to create an inspired soundscape.
This is a facilitated 1 hour workshop followed by teacher guided activities using the Home Box and/or the Scrap Metal box for up to 1 hour. Up to 30 children can participate in this workshop.
