Greek Fighting Forces
Monday 5 September 2011 to Friday 20 July 2012
KS2 - History
This workshop gives students an introduction into how ancient Greek hoplite soldiers would have trained, some of the objects they would have used and the armour they would carry into battle. Volunteers from your class can dress up in a set of replica armour and even brandish a life-sized iron sword.
The final activity ties the lessons from the workshop together; groups of students are asked to re-imagine the story of a departing hoplite and consider how he may have felt as he prepared to go to battle.
