Join in with a day of activities at this special festival celebrating Emperor Hadrian’s Roman Empire!
Meet the Emperor Hadrian and hear stories of his adventures and travels. Watch the glamorous belly dancers as they entertain the Emperor and have a go yourself!
You will also have the chance to meet auxiliary soldiers and civillians from Colchester Roman Society who will be representing The Vardulli, a unit originating from a tribe in North East Spain, and setting up camp for the day. The Vardulli will provide a display of military weapons and equipment as well as the civilian life of the Romans. Find out more about how life would have been at Segedunum, and learn about how the soldiers stationed here would have protected the Hadrian’s Wall frontier from barbarian attack!
