Segedunum Roman Fort

Combine excellence in teaching with enjoyment in learning by visiting Segedunum Roman Fort.

Segedunum Roman Fort lies on the banks of the River Tyne, the last outpost of Hadrian's Wall. For almost 300 years Segedunum was home to 600 soldiers. Today it is a fun, hands-on museum. Meet costumed characters, take part in workshops where you can enter soldiers' training or take part in drama sessions in the Bath House. Meet the Centurion who built Hadrian's Wall or try our Science in the Field course and hit different science targets with each workshop. There are resources available to support your visit, teacher packs and guided tours. Great facilities and committed staff will make your visit to the first Fort on Hadrian's Wall a day you and your pupils will enjoy and remember!

Segedunum is an essential part of any study of the Romans and local history, but we can also provide exciting days out as part of maths, literacy science, art, travel and tourism, and more!
