Local artist’s work on show
Two new works of art by local artist Anne Heraghty are now on show at Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum in Wallsend.
The two mosaics, entitled Toga and Greek Tragedy were created by Anne, who lives in Wallsend and has previously had her work shown onboard the QEII.
Anne is based at the North Tyneside Art Studio in North Shields and spent six months working on the mosaics.
Geoff Woodward, Manager of Segedunum, says:
“I’m excited to be able to show this new work by Anne. It is a great opportunity for us to be able to showcase a great local talent and, as we have a busy summer of events ahead, I hope that there will be a large number of visitors here to enjoy Anne’s work.”
Anne Heraghty adds:
“Nobody can be more astonished, proud and pleased as punch as I am that an amateur artist has two pieces of art work being displayed at a museum in her home town.”
Toga and Greek Tragedy are on show in the Museum throughout the summer.
Visitors to Segedunum can also enjoy an action-packed summer of events featuring live animals, fearsome gladiators and much more. The fun starts on Tuesday 26 July, when Segedunum’s World Heritage Day will include the chance to meet live animals from around the world, face-painting and animal masks for younger visitors, plus guided tours of the new display Strong Place.
