Come, See, Join - Segedunum
03 Mar
2pm - 4pm
Free entry
The museums and galleries of the North East already receive significant numbers of Deaf visitors but we want more to attend in the future. ‘Come, See, Join’ is a series of events in different museums for Deaf children, Deaf adults and their families.
Over two years, the Culture Shock project enabled more than 550 people to create their own personal digital stories, inspired by museums and galleries in the North East. These short films cover all areas of life, from memories and working life to families and hobbies.
At the ‘Come, See Join’ events you can see a selection of these stories, chosen by the Deaf community. BSL interpreters will be on hand to provide any communication support to assist with accessing the videos.
At the event you can not only see a selection of Culture Shock digital stories, but also get hands-on with some museum objects in object handling sessions and join us for a tour of the Museum.
We can provide the following support, free of charge, if you tell us before Wednesday 29 February 2012.
• BSL interpreters for Deaf visitors
• Sighted guide assistance for blind and partially sighted visitors
• General support for disabled visitors with specific requirements
