Friends of the Shipley talks programme announced
The Friends of the Shipley Art Gallery have announced their talks programme for the coming year.
All the talks are free to Friends and there is a minimal charge of £1 for guests and non Friends. Please remember to bring your Friends Membership Card with you for free entry.

Jessamy Kelly Talk
25 March
Jessamy Kelly - Designer-maker of contemporary glass and ceramics, based at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland. Jessamy often combines the two materials in one piece and refines her work using traditional handcrafted techniques such as engraving, diamond cutting and sandblasting.

A talk by a representative from the Art Fund, the national organisation which supports the acquisition of works of part by public galleries. The talk will follow the Friends AGM and is planned in conjunction with the exhibition Treasures from the Shipley Art Gallery.

Wendy Scott, Public Art Officer for Wansbeck Council will talk about project in Northumberland, including the work of the sculptor Sean Henry at Newbiggin-on-Sea.

The eminent, Lakeland based artist, will talk about his art. There will also be a DVD showing the artist at work in his studio.

Kate Brindley, Director of MIMA, the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art. The talk will introduce the Friends to the collections and programme of exhibitions at the major public gallery.
