Shipley Lates
a fabulous fix of culture on a Friday night
Introduction
Shipley Lates is back!
The Shipley is pleased to invite you to stay up late once again for the ever popular Shipley Lates, an exciting after hours experience at the North East’s leading gallery of design and contemporary craft. On the last Friday of the month in July and September, join us at the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead for two specially themed events aimed at kick-starting your weekend with a fabulous fix of culture.
Shipley Lates
Friday 30 September 6-10pm
Due to an extensive power failure in Gateshead yesterday, tonight's Shipley Lates event (30 September 2011) will take place at Caedmon Hall at Gateshead Central Library. This is just 200m down the road from the Shipley. No further advance tickets are available.
The evening will feature talks by jewellery designer Nora Fok (whose work is currently on display at the Shipley in the exhibition Cloud Nylon: The Jewellery of Nora Fok) and accessories guru Fred Butler who is well known for her work designing for artists such as Patrick Wolf, Beth Ditto and the flamboyant Lady Gaga. Both designers will give special talks about their work and inspiration and share their expertise in special hands on sessions which you can sign up for on the night.
In addition, there will be a special display of 20th century studio jewellery from the Shipley's collection especially for the evening. You can also try your hand at making your own paper jewellery inspired by designer Dame Wendy Ramshaw.
A DJ will provide a soundtrack to the evening and as usual the Shipley's pay bar will be available. Pet Lamb Patisserie will also be on hand selling their delectable treats with a range of specially designed fashion cupcakes on offer.
Shipley Lates is supported by IKEA Gateshead.
£3 entry.
Whether you come to Shipley Lates pre-club, post-dinner or for the whole evening, you’ll find something to inspire and excite you.
