Marsden Bay
02 May - 12 Jul 2009
Marsden Bay has been carved out of the landscape by winds, rain, snow and the raw power of the North Sea.
Despite living away from the North East for many years, photographer Paul Gibson has always been drawn back to his childhood home of South Shields, and in particular to Marsden where he spent many hours exploring the Bay.
Born in South Shields in 1962, Paul Gibson served with the RAF as an electronics technician for 22 years. In 2001, he returned to South Shields and, in 2003, studied for a degree in Contemporary Photographic Practices at the University of Northumbria. Following the completion of his degree, Paul trained as a teacher and now lectures in Photography at South Tyneside College.
Marsden Bay continues to attract Paul, and his appreciation of its beauty throughout the year is expressed in this exhibition.
