30th Anniversary of FOSUMS

FOSUMS (Friends of Sunderland Museums) will be celebrating their 30th Anniversery Year in 2010.

FOSUMS is an organisation for everyone interested in museums and galleries. It exists to support and encourage interest in Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens and Monkwearmouth Station Museum. It does this through monthly meetings, social events and fundraising. FOSUMS holds lectures at its meetings on the third Thursday of every month.

Members can offer practical help with Museum activities by giving specialist help where they have relevant skills, by helping at exhibition previews, by publicising Museum activities and by raising money for Museum developments and the purchase of exhibits.

FOSUMS will start the celebrations of their 30th year with a display in the Open Space Gallery on the 2nd floor of Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens. The display will open in December. This will be follwed by a programme of regular events throughout the year - watch out for further details.
