IKEA teams up with the Shipley Art Gallery
International retailer IKEA is supporting a late-night evening of culture and design at a Gateshead gallery.
The Shipley Art Gallery’s Shipley Lates event takes place on Friday 30 September, and includes talks by accessories designer Fred Butler and jeweller Nora Fok. The event is supported by IKEA Gateshead for the second year running.
Michael Cox, of IKEA Gateshead, says:
“Following the success of our partnership in 2010 supporting the outstanding Shipley Lates, IKEA Gateshead is very pleased to develop this partnership in 2011. We firmly believe we have a big role to play in our local community. We have a responsibility to support local initiatives and develop awareness around design and culture.
“IKEA is passionate about great design and quality but at a price that is accessible to the “many people”. Working alongside the Shipley gives us a great opportunity to offer a fix of design & culture to the people of the North East and by doing this we can help create a better every day life.”
Shipley Lates is a series of evening events at the Shipley Art Gallery where people can visit the Gallery after-hours, take part in hands-on activities and meet visiting artists and designers.
Stef Anderson, Development Officer at Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, says:
“IKEA is a member of our business partnership, Connecting Through Culture and this is the second year that they have chosen to support these fantastic evening events at the Shipley Art Gallery.
Our partnership with IKEA is a great example of how working together with North East businesses can help the Shipley and our other venues to host top quality events, while also forging real and lasting relationships with the local business community”
Connecting through Culture offers businesses a wide range of benefits from access to exclusive sponsorship opportunities to team building days for employees.
