Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums

New Member for Business Partnership scheme

We're delighted to welcome a new member to the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Business Partners scheme - the Port of Tyne.

The Port of Tyne is one of the UK's major deep sea ports - a vital trading gateway to Europe and beyond.

Susan Wear, Director of Corporate Affairs, Port of Tyne said: "We are delighted to be business partners with Tyne & Wear Museums. The Port of Tyne is committed to working closely with another organisation that has a positive effect upon our local communities."

Investment of over £100m in the past 10 years has created the infrastructure to deliver continued growth of the Port's diverse businesses.  These include conventional and bulk cargoes, car terminals, cruise and ferries, logistics (containers, warehousing and distribution) and a portfolio of commercial property.

The Port is leading developments in renewable energy - in 2010 it commissioned Europe’s largest biomass handling and storage facility and with its asset base and geographical location, is well placed to meet the needs of the emerging offshore wind turbine manufacturing industry.
