North East Beat: Free Live Performance
2.30pm and 7pm
Music students from South Tyneside College will be showing off their talent in a free gig to celebrate North East Beat: Venues, Bands and Fans, the latest exhibition at South Shields Museum & Art Gallery.
Exploring the North East’s popular music scene from the 1940s to the present day, North East Beat features a wealth of household names from Sting to Cheryl Cole and is a treasure trove of iconic musical memorabilia.
The performances will see students bring the artists and tracks featured in the exhibition to life with a setlist ranging from Dire Straits and Lindisfarne, right through to Franz Ferdinand and The Eurythmics.
This free event is an opportunity for visitors to explore the exhibition and catch some emerging North East talent in action.
Both events are open to the public, although the 7pm gig is ticketed. For free tickets contact Gill Scott on (0191) 456 8740 or via email Gillian.scott@twmuseums.org.uk.
North East Beat is open at South Shields Museums & Art Gallery until 6 February 2010.
