A History of the World - Tyne event
A History of the World is a unique partnership between the British Museum, the BBC and museums across the UK.
Members of the public will be able to celebrate A History of the World this half-term on Friday 19 February at Discovery Museum (10am-4pm) where there will be the opportunity to upload their own objects to the British Museum’s website via their local site.
As well as uploading objects onto the A History of the World website, there will be a wide range of enjoyable activities for all ages taking place in the Great Hall.
Visitors can enjoy everything from family craft activities and live music to meeting the curators who look after some of the objects selected for the BBC Tyne region. Visitors will also be able to find out how to look after their family treasures (what to do, and what not to do), and enjoy hands-on exploration of real archaeological finds from prehistoric times to the 20th century.
BBC Newcastle's Simon Logan will also be broadcasting his afternoon show live from the event. See www.bbc.co.uk/tyne for more information.
