Explore the Winter Gardens to discover plants from China which are used in Chinese food and medicine, and those with symbolic meanings in Chinese art.

Passenger rides and craft activities

Train rides at 12.15pm, 1pm, 1.45pm and 2.30pm.
Craft activities 11am - 4pm

All aboard for the life adventurous!

Take a ride on one of our passenger carriages, hauled by our impressive new heritage diesel engine. Then head inside for craft activities using card, collage and a little bit of imagination.

No booking necessary. Train rides cost £2.10 Adults, £1.05 Children/Concessions, £5.25 Family Tickets. Craft activities are FREE!

Visitors to Stephenson Railway Museum can enjoy passenger train rides on Sunday 14 and Sunday 21 February, hauled by a heritage diesel engine.

Prepare for lift off! Join us to celebrate the launch of Space Age, our latest exhibition, with a whole day of free fun for all the family!

Meet Storm Troopers from the 99th Imperial Garrison as they bring the Space Age to South Shields, and be the first to have a look around the exhibition! Create your own Flying Saucers in the morning in our make-and-do space or take a voyage into the unknown in a Space Trail around the building in the afternoon!If you're feeling inspired by space and the stars, explore the universe in 3D in a talk with the Sunderland Astronomical Society.
 

Don't miss exclusive competitions and prizes, plus make sure you grab a free balloon as we launch our 150th birthday celebrations.
