Exploring 250 years of coal mining heritage

A magnificent Victorian steam engine, engine house and headgear are preserved as a monument to Washington's coalmining heritage that reaches back over 250 years. Washington 'F' Pit is open seasonally. In 2010, the museum will open on: Saturday 31 July – Sunday 1 August Family Fun Weekend (Saturday 11-1.30 and 2-5, Sunday 2 - 5) Saturday 11 September – Sunday 12 September Heritage Open Days (Saturday 11-1.30 and 2-5, Sunday 2 - 5) An additional day to support the Washington Festival will take place on Saturday 18 September, 11 – 5pm Free entry.
