In October, Mr Jimmy Tsang, President of the North East Chinese Association, presented a donation of £1,000 to the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Development Trust towards the Dr Hari Shukla Fund for Diversity and Inclusion. The Dr Hari Shukla Fund, set up in January 2018 between TWAM and renowned equality campaigner Dr Hari Shukla CBE, marks their joint commitment to promoting museums as a place of tolerance, learning and community belonging.

During the North East Chinese Association’s annual Harvest event, an auction was held to fundraise for Dr Shukla’s fund due to his close connection with the Association. NECA has long supported TWAM’s work around diversity and their members feature prominently in Discovery Museum’s migration gallery Destination Tyneside.
